Dr. Payam Andalib
MD, PhD, CNIM, Clinical Program Director
Dr. Payam Andalib is the Clinical Director and faculty of the Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring (IONM) program at the University of Connecticut. He also serves as the Academic Liaison and Senior Surgical Neurophysiologist at NuVasive Clinical Services. Dr. Andalib earned his Medical Degree from Shahid Beheshti Medical School in Tehran-Iran and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Physiology and Neurobiology with concentration in Electrophysiology from the University of Connecticut. He has also completed two Postdoctoral Fellowships with concentrations in electrophysiology at the University of Connecticut. His career in IONM spans over 15 years and throughout the years, Dr. Andalib has monitored more than 2000 spinal, cranial, otolaryngologic and vascular surgeries.
He has served in many administrative roles within the field of IONM including Regional Director, Director of Quality Assurance and Academic Affairs and Director of Clinical Services to name a few. Dr. Andalib’s interest in academic education in IONM led him to work closely with the faculty from the Physiology and Neurobiology Department at the University of Connecticut to develop the Graduate Certificate in IONM and Master of Science in Surgical Neurophysiology programs.
